Vajayjay Monologues: Jane Fonda Will C U Next Tuesday

Not only does Meredith Viera flinch, but there's this whole firestorm about it, AFTER starting off the segment with this whole spiel about "happy vagina day" and how the play has changed lives and is going to end violence to women and young girls, etc., all because Jane Fonda said the title of the piece on air, which even in context is still verboten. Classic.

Exactly. Jane was naming the title of the piece from The Vagina Monologues. it is actually called "Reclaiming Cunt," which is a piece about changing the way people perceive the word "cunt." Obviously ten years of The Vagina Monologues haven't changed how television and the mainstream audience perceive the word "cunt."

I agree.

My Grandma says really rude and vulgar things all the time...and she has really started doing it more as she has gotten older because she doesn't see the point in fucking around anymore.

I remember in the 80s seeing an interview with Joan Rivers where she talked about how she wasn’t allowed to do a bit on tv that made fun of tv ads for menstrual products (I remember the ad she meant, but not whether it was pads or tampons – her joke was something like ‘The only woman in the world who loves getting her period is Cathy Rigby!’). Stations that ran the ad would not let her do the routine about it, claiming it was too explicit.
