The original gangsta wars may be over now that Jay-Z has retired his grudge against Nas, but the skanksta wars have just begun: Pop divas Pink, Christina Aguilera, and Britney Spears have been baring their claws along with their belly buttons. Pink dismissed Aguilera (''Certain people are leaders, other people are followers''). Aguilera dissed Pink (''When has Pink not been copying me?'') and called Spears ''teenybopper trash.'' And Spears whined to Diane Sawyer about Xtina and others (we paraphrase): How come they get to dress all ho, but it's a ''big deal when I do it?''
With Katie mentioning fellow young star Amy Winehouse, I have my opening to ask her about some rather unflattering remarks made by Ms W in these very pages a few months ago. These went along the lines of, "I'm a songwriter but she (Katie Melua) has her songs written for her... She must think it's her f**king lucky day... It's not like she's singing old songs like Jamie (Cullum), she's singing s**t new songs that her manager writes for her."
Katie is visibly surprised at the vehemence of these insults, but is amazingly balanced and gracious in her response:
"First of all, music is so much about opinion and she is completely entitled to her opinion. I think it's hilarious, actually. You know, it's very funny to have the courage to say that in the music industry, although I don't know if it's foolish or if it's good on her part."
"But obviously I have to defend myself. She's absolutely right - the first album is not about me as a writer, it's about me as a performer. I met up with Mike and he had these great songs. She might think his songs are s**t, I think they're f**king brilliant... I love his songs, I love singing his songs. His songs make me sing a certain way."
Winehouse has also had many digs at Dido back when 'Frank' was out and not doing that well but Dido was huge.

lolololz @ "i'd rather have cat aidz". that is pretty much the most priceless thing i've ever heard. i've never seen wino do interviews before. i'm just surprised she actually has personality. bravo on her.
i've decided mariah & xtina have gotten into it with everyone they can. & though he's not a diva, both of their beefs with eminem were pretty priceless in itself.
maybe i just think they're good at being cunts though. i just want to see them go at it celebrity deathmatch style.

Amy is BEST in interviews. Check out the whole of that episode of Never Mind The Buzzcocks. Funniest shit ever.
Saggy Aggy's beef with Eminem was hilarious. She was suicidal over that shit. Remember when she went around telling anyone who'd listen that they'd made up and he'd given her a hug?! FUNNY!
