| | | who was more beautiful?? Marilyn or Liz?
I know you can't really compare them because they were so different, Marilyn was all about angel cake beauty while Liz was this dark ravishing vamp, buit who do you like more??
I think Marilyn was more beautiful. She was more photogenic and had better bones and more harmony in her face, while Liz was really beautiful her face wasn't that photogenic, it was rather long, and aside from her eyes, her others features are rather plain if you look at it. |

my vote goes for Marilyn because she never had the chance to get fat and old and crazy.

| | | I don't think Marilyn would have gotten old and crazy, or lost her beauty, I mean when she died at 36 she was more beautiful that in all her life, while Liz at 36, her beauty was already beginning to fade. |

| | | Rose White Rose Red The dark and the light. Both women were exceptionl beauties in their time. As for fat and crazy, well, both women were also that in their lifetimes (Marilyn went way past plump when she was married to Arthur Miller, and well, La Liz in the 70s was fat enough for John Belushi to parody her perfectly).
Marilyn was far from sane. She had mental illness in her family, and in her own life, dealt with crippling depression. She was also a victim of child abuse.
Both were known for knockout figures, luminescent skin, gorgeous eyes, and fine acting. Why does it always have to come down to either/or?
It's just a damn shame there are no actresses out there NOW that compare. |

I give you Nicole but only because her beauty is reminiscent of Marilyn's beauty, look closely at their features, but in all seriousness, there is no comparison between Hollywood then and now. |

this is not true, there was no mental illness in Marilyn's family, her grandfather went mad because of syphillis or some virus if I recall correctly, and her mother just had severe anxiety for a period of time and that was deemed crazy in the 30's and she was institutionalized and I guess that drove her mad but they were not mentally ill and Marilyn herself was never mentally ill. |

| | | Denial will get you nowhere, hon.
Marilyn was severely depressed several times in her life and under the care of several psychiatrists... that's MENTAL ILLNESS. Attempted suicides and completing the job kind of point to mental illness as well, don't you think?
Mental illness doesn't mean one is just schizo, or psychotic. Clinical depression, bipolar disorder, etc. are all forms of mental illness.
You wanna split hairs about the FACTS about Marilyn's mother, sell it somewhere else. Institutionalization, even then, was a damn good indicator that a person was mentally ill. And her mother was. So let's not play blindman. Marilyn's mother was commited by the state of California for decades, not some twenty eight day stretch for "anxiety". She was declared non compis mentes (sp) and was in fact institutionalized at the time of Marilyn's death... to the point of inability to function that Joe DiMaggio made all the funeral arangements.
And although she has always been one of my favorite actresses, I am not going to pretend she didn't have times when she got downright fat.
Not obese, but FAT. Even for 1950s standards. Trying to rewrite history doesn't help anyone, and it certainly won't help Marilyn. |

Ooh I have Marilyn's boob size.
But not a 22" waist. Nowhere NEAR.

| | | Wear a girdle or a waist cincher and you can also have a 22 inch waist.
And I've seen photos during the Arthur Miller marriage. 140, my ass... but hers was more than that by at least twenty pounds.
Like I said, fat. Not obese. Not unattractive. But fat.

| | The corset I'm wearing tomorrow night can get me from 29" to 24", if I really want to put up with it. I think her measurements were without any artificial aid though

monroe is more iconic, perhaps because her appeal is more tied with sexuality but liz was perfect looking. it's the difference between jennifer connelly and say, anna nicole smith. lol | |
