The lower half of Liz's face has always bugged me. She's got a really weak chin. But I still can't take my eyes off her in films so what do I know?

I used to not "get" Marilyn. Like most girls of later generations, I knew the parodies and imitations before I knew what the big deal was supposed to be. There are millions of girls with prettier faces, but with her it was the whole THING. It's charisma baby.

I've read that Marilyn had electrolysis on her hairline. I could believe that. Her hairline is a little lower in photos where she still has dark hair and her widow's peak fluctuates a lot.

that's the thing!!!!!!!!! it's Liz Taylor's chin!!!!!!!!!! you nailed it, I can't stand it either, in fact I can't stand the whole shape of her face, she's not photogenic at all. It's all about the eyes, she probably has perfect eyes like no one else, but aesthetically speaking, her face is flawed.

And I get what you mean about Marilyn, I was exposed to the parodies and the references before seeing the real Marilyn and what she weas about and there's really no comparison.

The thing with Marilyn Monroe, and probably the reason why she is so big is that, not only was she hugely famous, but also she wasn't threatening at all.

Her sexuality was not a "hungry nympho bitch" sexuality like Angelina Jolie or Xtina's(yuck) or Madonna herslef wich threatens people specially women, no, she had a very obvious sexuality but it wasn't in your face because her image was very innocent and angel like. She came across as a genuine innocent person that it so happens was incredibly beautiful.

So that means that men loved her because she was beautiful, but women loved her too because she was not threatening, and the end result is that everyone loved her and they still do to this day.

Liz Taylor was more the vamp, you know?? men loved her but I'm sure lots of people disliked her because she came across as so voracious.

It's really easy to love Marilyn in retrospect. The reality is that most women don't like to watch overly beautiful actresses in everygirl roles. there's a reason Renee Z gets more work in better films than Angelina and Catherine Zeta-Jones even though they've all got the same Oscar. People want to see Julianna Margulies end up with Clooney.

Oh, Marilyn. But I don't think there's a contest there.

I know but Marilyn succeeded where Catherine and Angelina fail, Marilyn was able to pull it off at everygirl roles, like The Misfits.
