On Hell's Kitchen last night:
The pair first clashed when Davidson asked Dowling: "Why do shirt lifters pull that same face?"
Offended by his comments, the reality TV star replied: "Please don't say shirt lifters, it's really rude."
The former Generation Game host replied: "I don't care. Gay men have the same look - some gay men have the same look."
When asked whether Dowling had the "look", he answered: "No only when you put it on...It's a sort of preen."
Later, Davidson discovered that his fellow chef had been crying in the garden and asked him what had prompted his tears.
Dowling explained: "Because of you. You can't pretend that when you say something there won't be a reaction."
Davidson claimed he didn't like the way the conversation was being personally directed towards him, prompting Dowling to ask: "When you called me a shirt lifter tonight was that
personal?"
Davidson commented: "Fair enough. Go on. You play the whole homophobic card you are a f*****g disgrace. Why do you have to play the homophobic card? Brian for heaven's sake."
Davidson then added: "Sure - that's what GAY stands for - Good As You. I know that."
Upset by his comments, Dowling responded: "Jim don't say that ... Jim I am Brian - not Good As You. I am an equal to you - you are being really, really horrible to me now. Why are you saying GAY why are you saying GAY is Good As You.. Why can't I be Brian and you be Jim.
"I won't walk away - I won't be as Good As You. I will be BAY - Better Than You. I find you so deeply upsetting ... I don't play the homophobic card...you say the most insulting things to me.
"When you say the word shirt lifter you should realise its offensive - to anyone. I am not GAY 'Good As You' . I actually thought for some reason we were all equal in here."
Dowling ended the row, saying: "I find you the most offensive person I have ever met in my whole entire life. You have ruined my whole time in here with your narrow mind and comments."
"I am literally speechless. Empty, disgusted and the most vulnerable I have felt in my whole life I swear to God."
