Condé Nast to Close Jane Magazine & Website
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jane magazine will cease publication with its August issue, it was announced today by Charles H. Townsend, President & CEO of Condé Nast Publications. The website, janemag.com, will also be shut down.

“This was a very difficult decision for us,” Mr. Townsend said. “We worked diligently to make Jane a success. However, we have come to believe that the magazine and website will not fulfill our long-term business expectations.”

Jane was launched in September, 1997.

it was much less shit than cosmo. but not as good as vogue.

How would it relate to Cleo? Do they have that overseas? Being less shit than Cosmo is a start, I suppose.

I liked Jane, but I preferred it much more under Jane Pratt.
They were the magazine of the false coverline though. More than once, you could catch them mentioning something on the cover that you could not find, even loosely, in the magazine.
They also paid $1,000 for their "It happened to me" page which was a nice tidy sum for 600 words or less.
