Talk about an overdue engagement! According to reports, Johnny Depp has finally popped the question to his long-term girlfriend Vanessa Paradis.

We hear their seven-year-old daughter Lily-Rose’s terrifying illness inspired the proposal. Thankfully, Lily-Rose is back to full health, and Depp wants to make his relationship with Paradis official.

Depp plans to wed his girlfriend of eight years this summer in the small French village of Plan de la Tour, near St Tropez, according to media reports.

A source from their village in France said that the couple has one of "the strongest relationships in Hollywood but after their daughter was taken ill the family became an even closer-knit unit."
