Driving without a license gets a decent amount of leniency and the 45 day sentence sounds about right to me. It's driving under the influence that I am puzzled about. I know that in Maryland, I used to see tons of guys get sentenced for a year or two and it was their first offense. I used to work as a bail bondsman and there was always the repeat offender dude who bounced in and out of jail anyway, but many times it was just a cornfed whiteboy who had never traveled outside the briar patch and when he did, he was driving drunk.
