Exclamation Caterer exposes celebrity party to Hepatitis A

Caterer exposes celebrity party to Hepatitis A
Wed Feb 28, 8:32 AM

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A Sports Illustrated bash for its annual swimsuit issue has turned into a health scare for stars in Hollywood after a caterer working for celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck may have exposed them to acute Hepatitis A.

The Los Angeles County health department recommended on Tuesday that anyone who ate uncooked food at the U.S. sports magazine's party on February 14 get treatment by Wednesday to avoid developing the serious liver disease.

Guests at the party included singer Beyonce Knowles, former Guns N'Roses bassist Duff McKagan, portly "Borat" co-star Ken Davitian, and a slew of models.

Health officials said the risk was "quite low" and that no Wolfgang Puck pre-packaged foods or restaurants were affected.

Hepatitis A is caused by a virus spread by ingesting something contaminated with the feces of an infected person. Symptoms can include fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, abdominal pain and jaundice.

Carl Shuster, president of Wolfgang Puck Catering, said the company was working closely with health officials to contact anyone who ate food prepared in its Hollywood kitchen between February 1 and 20.

Shuster said the worker was placed on medical leave and the company has "applied exceptional procedures" to disinfect the kitchens and food processing areas.

"Our catering efforts continue and we remain confident that our guests will receive the highest standards of excellence for which Wolfgang Puck is known," the statement said.

This year's swimsuit issue features Knowles as the cover model, with rapper Kanye West, country star Kenny Chesney and members of the bands Aerosmith and Gnarls Barkley posing with scantily clad models.

Gross. I am getting wearier all the time about eating food out that strangers are cooking for me ~ and the prepackaged food too. You never know what diseases are being passing into the food and on to us. Come to think of it even the fresh foods we can cook at home ~ lately theres been outbreaks of ecoli and other food borne illness. Maybe just don't eat at all LOL

Why is everyone say bad things about Paris Hilton?.. Paris Hilton never hurt anyone and she is not criminal... Paris may have lots of money but she does have feeling just like the rest of us…

You can not catch Hepatitis A or Hepatitis B by not wearing panties...

Does anyone have the list of Celebrities who got infected with Hepatitis virus?

The only safe thing to do is to grow and cook your own food..

Question...

Do people who touch, and/or cook the food you are going to put into your body go thru some type of security check? Ohmigosh you really do not know if they really washed their hands after taking a ****. You do not even know if they used toilet paper.. and if they did you do not know if one of there fingers was outside of paper and making skin contact...

I do not eat restaurant food... and if I must eat out it has to be a place I can watch them cook and prepare the food.. I do not feel comfortable when they specially prepare your food behind closed doors.. You really do not know what is going on...

Just the other day their was a restaurant in NYC that passed the health inspection and if it wasn't for the video camera proof people would have never heard about the rat party.. Hundreds of rats running around the restaurant and all over the food; some of the rats looked like they were infested with fleas...

Think about that for a moment...

Maybe its just me.. But I do not understand why people pay big money to eat in places where they can not verify the food is prepared in a clean healthy and non disgusting environment...

And I didn't even mention anything about the roach problem....

Once I saw a roach stuck underneath a apple pie desert...

I almost pucked I got sick in the stomach... That was a long time ago... I cook my own food.... now....
