Oh Takei At the start I thought it was some preachy 'we love you even though you hate us' thing, which made me gag. I always have problems when people try to 'represent' the gay community (or any minority really) by homogenising opinion.

It's a shame Takei wasn't more of an advocate in his Star Trek heyday, but I guess being gay back would have been the end to his career. Has anyone seen the film Shortbus? There is this bit in that film where an old man who used to be the mayor of New York makes such an emotional speach about how hard it was seeing people day of AIDS and knowing he wasn't doing enough. It's heartbreaking.

If you like this stuff, you have to see him on the Shatner roast. Unless they took 'em down, the clips are on YouTube. The whole roast is hysterical. Betty White is the best, though.
