From what I know of the book, it isn't a 'candid tell-all about [her] child' in as much as it is a document of three generations of dysfunctional relationships between grandmother, mother, and daughter.

its actually a great read. the title is terrible but i suspect her publishers had more to do with that to give it some marketability, but if you pretend it cl is not part of this and its just about a woman growing up adopted and dealing with her own children and life and multiple marriages etc its really interesting and i enjoyed reading it.

its just a book about mothers and daughters and is really interesting.

we all have life stories to tell that are interesting and her journey is interesting as well

It's Linda's views that annoy me. You do have control on how your child is raised you do not have control of their personality but children often become like the parent from being around the parent.

Linda has always seemed selfish too me , i am a troubled person but my mother has always cared never just stopped loving me. Yes Courtney can be a terrible horrible person but you as a mother have to still care and not distance yourself and try to understand what its like in the child's shoes.Courtney's shoes are not a happy place she was born into this world with alot of sorrow but i think her soul chose that maybe she was a mass murderer in a past life and in this life needed to feel pain . to become balanced but only when Courtz dies will se be at peace and the way she's been looking lately shows how close that day is coming.

I'm not saying Linda should do this or should've done that but i think Courtney's really only ever needed someone to love her deeply and she may have had that once with Kurt but i think its gone and she never truly feels loved so she looks outside for love and gets well Tyler.

Courtney and Linda both need therapy.So much for Linda being a therapist herself

omg this post is so sad. And it's true because Courtney is a very sad woman deep down, but it seems to be a sadness that has no reason or cause.

I sometimes feel incredibly sad but I have no idea why, and it's a void it's something that can't be fixed and it's around you all the time. I have a feeling that's how she feels, plus the horrible self loathing.

What you said about the past life is true, not all sorrow is meant to be but sometimes people encounter sorrow that seems pointless but you are paying for things from a past life.

I also don't see Courtney living much longer. I don't see her being 60 or 70 but who knows. I think that's when she'll find happiness, it's ironic because I consider her one of those persons that are plugged to life but she's just not happy. Some people never feel at home in this life or in their own bodies.

Wow, there are so many assumptions going on in this thread. The interviews I have read from Linda have been utterly sobering and honest, imo. There is a huge difference between being able to admit your mistakes and boasting about them being made. I'm afraid that hindsight's 20/20 vision came too late for Linda, but the issue is not that she never cared - she cares! You can tell from her words, she cares. It is Courtney who demonizes her because, essentially, Courtney needs antagonists in her life to rebel against and give her ammo to write songs ("Stand Up Motherfucker", "Boys on the Radio").
