| | | vince vaughn is splendiferous seriously, he makes any crap film good. or at least, good when he's in the scene.
lets explore this deeply:
the break up (lets all face it. aniston cannot hold anything together. even her own marriage).
thumbsucker (this is not an admission of this films merit. it was crap).
old school (though farrell was a worthy contributor).
the prime gig
PSYCHO
the locusts (this is a great film)
clay pigeons
made
swingers
basically, he's just a tall fucking hilarious man.
i asked for 12 fuckin lemons.

| | | I'm going to have to say a big fat NO in regards to the new Psycho. That fucking sucked and so does he for agreeing to be in it.
What else is he in? I've only seen Psycho out of those you listed but I'm sure I've seen him in something else. Oh I remember...I thought he was kind of good in Dodgeball because otherwise that movie was shit. Oh and Anchorman, of course! Although he wasn't in it much. And Zoolander.

if the only one youve seen from that list is 'psycho' you need to educate yourself a bit more before posting in this thread.
because, for one, the remake of psycho whilst it seems like a complete waste of time, was a great showcase of the excellentness that eminates from my friend, mr vaughn.
i did not list such classics as dodgeball, zoolander (which holds a special place in my heart reserved only for those who make me pee my pants) and anchorman as they did not fit the criteria for this thread. whilst vince was pivotal in each film he did not make them great. they were great to start with. and mr stiller is of course, stellar.

Plus, I spend too much time watching documentaries and weirdo films to watch ones with Hollywood jocks.
I posted in this thread because I thought I might be able to get some recommendations because sometimes I need a bit of fluffy Hollywood lightheartedness.
I have really wanted to see Thumbsucker for a while though. Is it actually really crap? Because as far as I can remember the premise sounds good. Quote:

| Yeah. Psycho did suck. I saw it by accident and it made me lose all meandering respect I had for van Sant. I didn't mean that Vaughn's acting sucked, I meant that it was a bad choice for everyone involved in the film.
I mentioned Zoolander and Anchorman because I was trying to think of where I'd seen Vince Vaughn before. |

| | | thumbsucker is self induldgent and mostly TEENAGED. so, no. no good premise there.
gus van sant never deserved any respect. he's got no continuity and his erratic movements seem planned out and surgical, orchestrated. his "artisitic effors" (elephant... last days...) leave most people unsatisfied. i liked elephant. but it wasnt great. nothings great. he's just kind of being trendy with people like you who dont watch "fluff".
good will hunting was crap but ill tolerate it because i like the story behind it. the affleck/damon story. that's cute.
clearly you do watch fluff. youve seen the the three films i on purpose didnt mention.
youve also not seen any of the others which i do not consider to be "fluff".
janeane garofalo is sex.

| | | Oh trust me, I've never liked Gus van Sant. I gave him a chance because everyone I know raves about him but I couldn't even bring myself to like My Own Private Idaho. I watched Elephant, thought it was nothing special, and never bothered with Last Days.
And yes Janeane Garafalo is one of my favourite actresses ever.
And yes I do watch fluff sometimes because like I said, I need to. Being a film & english student means I have to watch 'smart' films.
Edit; um how can you say that 'The Break Up' isn't fluff?! It has Jennifer Aniston in it for fuck sake.

King Kong (the original. I thought it sucked)
The Crying Game (loved it)
Psycho (the orginal. Had already seen it but loved studying it)
Mildred Pierce (thought it was good)
Heavenly Creatures (love it, can't wait to study it)
Chinatown (it's growing on me)
Richard III
A Streetcar Named Desire
Forgotten Silver
Do the Right Thing (love love love this film.)
and some others last year, I can't remember which. not all of them are films I'd go out and buy. I mean, do you want a list of my favourites or something? cos I don't think I can be bothered with that and I don't think you'd bother to read them all.
Anyway I thought this was about Vince Vaughn. He's like a bear, I think. In a good way. |

| | MY LOVE!! I've been a fan for about six years now. I really love him in more dramatic roles like Return to Paradise, he was so great in that film.
I still haven't seen Swingers though!!! |
