Oh trust me, I've never liked Gus van Sant. I gave him a chance because everyone I know raves about him but I couldn't even bring myself to like My Own Private Idaho. I watched Elephant, thought it was nothing special, and never bothered with Last Days.

And yes Janeane Garafalo is one of my favourite actresses ever.

And yes I do watch fluff sometimes because like I said, I need to. Being a film & english student means I have to watch 'smart' films.

Edit; um how can you say that 'The Break Up' isn't fluff?! It has Jennifer Aniston in it for fuck sake.

tell me what youre considering as "smart".

I don't know if I consider all of them smart, but my lecturers seem to. These are the films I've studied in the past two years:

King Kong (the original. I thought it sucked)
The Crying Game (loved it)
Psycho (the orginal. Had already seen it but loved studying it)
Mildred Pierce (thought it was good)
Heavenly Creatures (love it, can't wait to study it)
Chinatown (it's growing on me)
Richard III
A Streetcar Named Desire
Forgotten Silver
Do the Right Thing (love love love this film.)

and some others last year, I can't remember which. not all of them are films I'd go out and buy. I mean, do you want a list of my favourites or something? cos I don't think I can be bothered with that and I don't think you'd bother to read them all.

Anyway I thought this was about Vince Vaughn. He's like a bear, I think. In a good way.

I'd hit it.
