It's hard to believe Edward Norton went out with someone like Courtney Love. Not because she's a crazy drug guzzling mess I'm just talking personality wise. Edward seems so shy and reserved and I just couldn't understand him going out with Courtney Love who is a very over the top and loud and a bad ass rocker chick. It's just hard to picture them hanging out together let alone dating. What would a conversation go like? Wouldn't she get bored? And wouldn't he be freaked out by her? Is Edward really that shy? Or is he just that way to the public because he's extremely private?

He's a Yale grad raised by a lawyer and a teacher...a great stage and film actor who has impressed the likes of Edward Albee...so I doubt she'd ever get bored by their conversations. And he gave her some stability in her life that she really needed. No wonder she regrets losing him.

I think ed norton seems a bit like Johnny Depp

the kinda guys that seem to have a much stronger persona on screen than in real life(who are both terrific actors. my two favourites infact)..but that are both very intelligent.

and johnny depp dated winona and kate moss, who are both pretty wild.

I just started getting into her for her music last year when I decided to see past the media image that had grossed me out for so many years. Wikipedia led me here and here I am. yes because he has said that he hates smoking yet Courtney Love has to be one of the biggest chainsmokers in hollywood. I just want to know how that happened? I think Edward might like strong women because Salma Hayek is also a very strong outspoken woman too. That's cool, I respect guys who can handle a strong woman. He is hot but he just seems really square and serious all the time. I saw him in an interview and he was kind of weird and I just thought, "I can't picture him going out with someone like Courtney Love!" And he's definitely intelligent to the point where it can intimidate most people. I've seen him in interviews and he's smarter than all the people interviewing him! He uses these huge words in normal conversation like it's nothing. He has to be the most intelligent actor I've seen of his generation.

I like Ed Norton + Courtney Love better than Ed Norton + Salma Hayek.

He was with her during her cleaned up "hollywood actress" phase, so I don't think she was that crazy at the time. Also they're both intellectuals, so they had that in common.

he calmed her down alot. i remember reading an interview once where courtney said, she realised that soul mate and love of your life are two different things. she referred to kurt as being a soul mate i.e someone who you can be yourself around and do whatever you want,someone that you can be your worst with and love of your life (ed norton) as being the person that matures you and brings out the very best in you. I think at that stage in her life/career thats what she wanted.

I think, unfortunately for her, she did get bored of ed. There were rumours she cheated on ed with that jim barber dude! I think ed wanted the bad/cool guy image so went with courtney because he wasnt going to get it from his own personality. He comes across intelligent, sensible and nice but not wild, spontaneous etc. like courtney. I dont think they were ever going to last but were good for eachothers (images) at that period of time. Hes not exactly "extremely private" either, he was always out in the public eye when salma was on his arm.
