| | | Japanese lessons I don't know a word of Japanese. Want to learn a couple of stuff, and I know it's a tough language. Anyone willing to give simple lessons? (like, start with the basics "hello", "goodbye", "thank you", "please", "my name is..." etc...). Thank you! |

| | | i was going to do this a long time ago but there wasn't the much participation. here are some basic beginner words and phrases in hiragana and romaji. i don't remember that much from school, but i can help you with basics and even record these if you need them.
こんいちわ
konnichiwa
(hello, used mainly in the day)
おはようございます
ohayou gozaimasu
(good morning)
こんばんわ
konbanwa
(good evening)
ありがとう
arigatou
どうもありがとう
doumo arigatou
どうもありがとうございます
doumo arigatou gozaimasu
(thank you - the first is less formal than the last)
でわまた
dewa mata
じゃまた
ja mata
さようなら
sayounara
(goodbye)
________ をください。
________ o kudasai.
(______, please)
for example:
みずをください。
mizu o kudasai.
(water, please.)
the kanji for water is 水, but is pronounced みず.
わたしのなまえは_______です。
watashi no namae wa _________ desu.
(my name is ________.)
なまえはなんですか。
namae wa, nan desu ka?
OR
なまえは。
namae wa?
(what's your name?)
maybe this helps some? if you want, i can direct to resources for learning hiragana and katakana, or i can also write out some simple dialogs and exercises.

| | | Japanese is always SOV (Subject, Object, Verb) instead of SVO (Subject, Verb, Object), as in:
ENGLISH GRAMMAR: Sandy eats apples.
JAPANESE GRAMMAR: Sandy apples eats. |
