| | | Prom Dress- Yay or Nay? I was thinking of getting this dress for prom but it's a bridesmaidish dress, so I wasn't sure if it's okay or not to wear to a prom. I've never been to a prom before so I'm not quite sure what sort of dresses people wear.
I really liked it since it's not too long and it fits right. There was another dress I tried on but it kept falling down since it was strapless. |

I think the black would look better at prom than the lavender colour....but it's a nice dress either way! |

| | | it's not a bad dress actually. and i agree that it would look better in black. oh, and don't wear shoes like the ones the model is wearing, it'll look too wedding-ish.

| | | It's not my style, but it's fine to wear for prom. As long as you look nice anything is okay, really. It's certainly a lot better than the formulaic prom catalog looking dresses. My prom was full of girls in these huge debutante gowns who could barely move. Nearly everyone had their hair professionally done into these elaborate updos. I wore a sleek black dress with a satin inset and some kind of draping at the bust and killer stilleto heels, and had my hair blown out and parted deep on the side (I told the stylist to "think veronica lake"). The point is that you'll be much happier if you wear something that you think is really "you" and do your hair and makeup in a way that you love rather than worrying about what is "okay." If it's formal, it's fine. You don't want to go to the prom section of jessica mclintock and wind up in the same dress as 3 other people. |

| | That green tulle dress is fucking stunning I want to run through the woods in it barefoot, with loose flowing curly wild woman hair.
Sorry, back on subject. That looks like a butter wouldn't melt prom dress, it's got some AudreyHepburn-in-Funny-face about it, def go with the black.
You want to be classic & timeless & the shape of the dress is a big enough statement in itself. |
