Black Patent Leather Tap Shoes

I have black patent leather tap shoes. I would like very much for them to be red. And possibly sparkly.
Is there any way to paint and or dye patent leather?
Spray paint, nail polish, anything? What if I sanded the shiny off of them first?

LOL at the nail polish

I wouldnt try that. But you can get shoe dyes or you can get them done professionally at most shoe repair shops, its not very expensive. They'd definitely be able to do them red, im not sure about the sparkly tho!

I haver used nail polish for stranger things!!

Would a shoe dye work through the plasticky stuff? And would it work to dye something thats so black? Wouldnt it be like really really dark red? lol

Yeah i think so, i remember my ex getting black shoes dyed to brown for a wedding and they turned out fine. Do you have any shoe repair shops near you?

I don't know... the patent leather seems like a difficult material to work with. It seems like they would be very resistant to much of any change.

Good luck, though. I'd love to see the end result. They sound fun!
