| | | Tent, sleeping bag, rollmat/inflatable mattress. Torch/lamp.
Toiletries: if you're not going to shower and aren't doing anything elaborate with your hair then dry shampoo is a must. baby wipes, antiseptic wipes, deodorant wipes, face wipes; it's all about the wipes. sun lotion & after sun (and fucking USE the shit, unlike I who got stupidly sunburned last weekend). make up if you're that fussy. If you're gonna shower, obviously you'll need the typical shampoo, body wash, blah. TOILET ROLL or at least some packs of pocket tissues. The antiseptic wipes double as a handy way to clean down an icky toilet seat before you go near it - I hover but I'm still scared I'll accidently come into contact with other people's business, that they kindly left behind all over the toilet seat.
Gear: a variety of clothes (& underwear) for any weather. rainjacket (i love my mac in a sack). umbrella. bikini & sarong in case it's hot? a change of shoes in case one pair gets wet/wrecked/lost. wellies?
Food & alcohol if you're not wanting to buy expensive shit from the stands. Camping cooker or disposable BBQs if you fancy cooking.
Entertainment: cards, portable stereo, etc.
Plenty of cash to last the duration. Keep it in various places so if you lose some or it gets stolen, you have back-up.
And most importantly: TICKETS.

| | | trainers with plastic bags round them if it is really muddy, and plenty of socks, you can never have enough if it rains.
a box or two of red wine, the best way to bring alcohol to a festival.

| | | Oh dude, this thread was sooo helpful last year!
Im going to Reading again and V (Radiohead night)
Well Ive learnt a few things from last year, the main thing being just to take the bare minimum of clothes & stuff as I didn't use/need half of what I took.
I might just take my (v colorful heart patterned) wellies and no other footwear because I lived in them last time, along with a denim mini skirt and a few t-shirts.
soooooo....
tent/sleeping bag/roll mat/torch
wellies
socks x 5
underwear
footless tights
denim skirt
t-shirts
sunglasses
suntan lotion/spf lip balm
deodorant wipes
impulse spray
face cleansing wipes
moisturiser
mini toothbrush + toothpaste
makeup bag
hairbrush + hair ties
digicam
mobile phone
wallet + money + bank card
some crisps + cereal bars
big bottle of water

| | the tent & sleeping bag go without saying...i would say don't take all that much, really. This is my essentials list:
wellies
waterproof poncho with a hood
baby-wipes
toilet roll/tissues
a thick blanket ( to wear like a pashmina when it gets cold when you're wandering round in the middle of the night....these have saved my life before )
a FUNNEL. this one is so that when the toilets get really grim, you can piss standing up / piss into an empty bottle in your tent without spilling
painkillers
mag-light ( ultra small torch you can put on your keyring )
swiss-army-knife ( so you have a bottle opener, etc )
sunglasses
a bag of fudge, or something equally sugary... for an instant glucose hit when you start to feel tired and ill
a comb, lip-balm, eye-liner, travel toothbrush & paste
a small across-the-body bag ( ie, about the size of a DVD box with a long strap, it needs to be small enough not to get on your tits, but big enough for your keys, tabs, wipes, phone and money.... you defo don't want to overload your pockets or have a fuck-off massive bag that'll restrict your dancing, etc)
body-wipes and travel size deodorant
DON'T take loads of changes of outfit, because once you're fucked you won't really care and everyone else is going to be looking a right state anyway. Combats and a nice vest/top, a hat, and a thick, warm hoody you can tie round your waist if you get too hot is the most practical thing to wear. you always see some twat who is dressed totally inappropriately (as if they were off to a club) not enjoying themselves because they are stressing about what they are wearing/the fact that they are covered in mud/piss/shit/are freezing/etc |

| | | Take the bare essentials, you'll only looks stupid lugging a huge bag around the campsite and it'll be horrible to carry.
- A container for storing water, you can buy plastic bag type ones that are much better for packing as they fold up smaller.
- Suncream and aftersun, because you WILL get sunburned.
- Wellys.
- Plasters, painkillers and condoms.
- Baby or cleansing wipes and toilet roll.
- Lipbalm, because I always forget it and the sun drys out you lips just as much as your skin.
- Roll on deodrant, so twats can't throw it on the fire to make a big bang.
- A couple of t-shirts/vests, underwear etc.
- A spare change of trousers/shorts or skirt, but there's no point in bringing a spare one of all three.
- A hat, again the sun can really tire you out and every year I've ended up buying a hat for this reason.
- A disposable camera.
- A small day bag to store your loo roll and stuff whilst in the arena.
- A small torch you can tie up in your tent for when you get ready to sleep in the evening.
- One warm jumper or hoodie.
- Cash because you can gurantee any nearby cash points they set up will charge you, and the queues are always huge for them anyway.
I never bring food with me, I usually set up my tent and stuff, then find a nearby supermarket and stock up, it's less to carry in one go. |
