Marc Jacobs Spring 2008 Ready-to-Wear Collection on Style.com: Runway Review

So, you can look at the slideshow off of that link. After doing so, tell me what you think.

I, uh... don't know if I get it. I like some of the asymmetry, and the see-through layers, and I'm even a little intruiged by the pieces that look like they have underwear designed onto the outside. But the accessories are way over my head (and in the case of that tin-man lookin' thing toward the end/beginning/whatever, I'm glad not literally), and what is up with the two cotton jersey lookin' things... with the numbers......? I know, I know, its probably supposed to be tongue in cheek or something, but I can still be of the opinion that its a waste of perfectly good runway space, and I am.

Some of the dresses are really hot, though.

no. just no.

very few of the pieces are actually wearable or sellable. the high waisted shorts, some of the jackets and a few of the dresses. they rest is just bad.

like this dress. its actually a nice cut but i don't know how many people are going to fork over $2000 for a dress with brightly coloured rats on it.



too novel for my tastes. with all that faux under garments. and those weird shoes. i'll be curious to see what the stores buy though.

ive only seen about 3 but already im like wtf. i mean:



a clown hat? pink pants?! like...what?!

and i mean, that model is like an anorexic rake but that dress somehow manages to make her look fat. wtf.

so then i looked at the rest of it & it only got worse.

this one is ok:

The black pieces in the beginning look like early Martine Sitbon, except she did it 100 times better. The coloured and oddly cut ones look uninspired (he's no Galliano and "odd" doesn't seem to be his metier; some do odd well). The prissy Chanel style has some okay outfits but the styling is off. Infact, I think that's one main negative in this collection. But the patterns (cuts) look very uninspired. He's off his rocker.
