I never posted in the Beauty forum on old kitty so I don't know how much this company was talked about before but...

Has anyone ever bought any perfumes from BPAL? I just ordered a 6 imp sample the other night but they are on a 21 day back order ( ) so I haven't recieve them yet. The scents sound divine and I know from people on my LJ friends list the scents can become quite addicting. Thoughts?

I remember some people wrote before about it and they were all very pleased

I bid on a set of imps on ebay but they went just before the auction finished.

they are very addictive! I've only got a stash of imps since I'm lazy & forget to order from the apothecarys cat.

The alice themed scents are fantastic, I overly recommend them.

ohhh i got two imps from the alice cat! can't wait to try them.

Does anyone know where they sell their fragrances retail? I know there's at least one place in LA but I forget the name of it.

Just 21 days? It's a looong wait for BPAL, but worth it. I think they're caught in some of kind of small business hell where the demand is considerable but the profit still not big enough for the owners to quit their day jobs, and/or hire staff.

The imps are great, small & cheap enough to order things you're not sure you'll like (and they throw in random free ones) and so there also are thriving trades scenes all over the place. We should start one here (would we have to go the trading forum?), actually. I have tons of imps I never got around to trading (I did it once or twice through their forums, but I never really go there anymore).

actually i just read the email from them again and it says "minimum 21 day backlog"

i ordered:
mad tea party - alice,
mad tea party - mad hatter,
love potions - bordello,
love potions - kabuki,
love potions - lolita,
sin and salvation - magdaline.

mostly i looked for scents with cherry or lemon in them but i tried to mix it up. plus i am becoming obsessed with alice in wonderland stuff so natually i had to get some from the mad tea party.

Does the homepage still warn 'may take in excess of 45 days..."? Actually probably best to put it out of your mind until you get the email that says it was shipped. The forums used to have annoucements about what was shipped in terms of order dates, that might give you an idea. But actually probably best to try to forget. After you've gotten your first order, you'll have imps that you didn't like, so you can trade if you want to fill the time until your order of big bottles of whatever you did like arrives.

their lolita is like candy! if you like super sweet smelling stuff you'll love it.
their ophelia is my favourite though.

I adore their stuff! It does take an age to arrive but is very much worth it. My favourites are the vanilla based blends - O, Dragon's Milk, Antique Lace..
I love the cute little bottles and labels too!

When I first ordered, they had labels that were obviously handwritten, with fringe. It was lovely, but I guess part of what made everything take so long, and thus had to be changed when they got more popular.

I have one of those old tarted up imps, they were ace! It's a shame they had to stop using those, but like you say, the increased demand would have made that a bit difficult! I like the way the limited edition bottles have different labels on.
