hey! i'm so glad that you love them! i think you are right that a smaller size would be too tight and uncomfortable. what i would suggest for you is a few things or a combination of them, it really depends on what works for your foot and where you have less room and where you can make up for it. one thing you can do is add heel grips. these are sold at drugstores and made by a variety of different manufacturers - they stick to the top lip of the heel and sort of grip at the top of where the shoe is so it doesn't slip off at the heel. another suggestion would be toe pads, these add extra comfort and push your heel slightly back so sometimes this alone can do the trick. lasty, insolia also seems to help and that goes in the arch area and shifts the weight of your foot more into the heel. you can read about them here:
