i use one of those polishing things, file them and push all my cuticles back + oil.

i should, but i dont. my nail polish sucks, i should get a better one then they wouldnt break so much

yes. short short nails that end halfway up your finger suck, as do dirty ones.

midlength is optimum

mine are different lengths at the moment. the nail on my little and ring finers are always the longest. I take no care of them at all and they are weak.
I don't often look at fingernails or am bothered by them but have noticed a tendency in some boys to have one really really longe fingernail and this is weird and grosses me out.

i cut them. mine grow kind of fast so i cut them often.

no freakin way. the only time i worry is if:

a) they are dirty from gardening or something
b) they are too long
c) i break one in the manner that draws blood

im likely to not want to have anything to do with someone who has fake nails, that is for sure. i work in a law office so you can imgine that there are hundreds of foolish twits with fake nails clacking on keyboards all the time. there is this one girl who gets them so long just because SHE LIKES the clacking keyboard noise. and she really bangs on the keys like shes typing something so stressful the keyboard must feel the brunt of her frustrations.

sometimes they will say OH DO YOU LIKE MY NAILS and i rly at that piont have to be honest. once this girl actually had lil luvhrtz on her fingernails and i had to take half a day sickleave.

no, i take no special care of my nails either. i mean i cut them short and try to paint them as often as possible for free @ boots. this drieves my mother mad, as she says it looks dirty &cheep. i love nail polish. at the moment my nails are of a sparly orange colour and it doent really suit me.
oh yeah i alway keep the nail on my little finger (left hand only) long

I very rarely put nail varnish on, mainly because I forget about it and then about a week later realise they look shit cos they are all chipped and even then tend to forget about them for another couple of weeks.

I use a glass nail file which are really good just to shape them, and if you use the file every day they become stronger.

I have a nail care pack that i keep by the tv, i buff my nails etc while i'm watching shows, i use an exfoliant scrub and hand cream before bed. I like my nails to look nice but i've never had a manicure or false nails or anything like that.

I let my nails grow until they start to get untidy, i probably cut them like every three weeks or something, they grow pretty fast.

I do notice other peoples nails because i always look to see if people have nice hands in general. I like nice hands.

I wanted to explain to you all how hideous I find these things ( nail art). But really, its not conveyable...I could work myself up into a frenzy.

why the one long fingernail?

I used to see a short Jamaican guy called Brent and he was short but reasonably manly (he did listen to Usher though) and he had one ridiculously long fingernail on one of his little fingers. It really upset me to look at.

Eww...it sounds worse because its not just long...its ridiculously long. Did you ask him about it?

i work with a guy from trinidad and he has one long pinky nail too.

around here we call it a "coke nail", easier to manuver the ol' scoop and snort i guess. a lot of goth/mall kids have it to suggest that they at one point in time they may have snorted ritalin. the guy from trinidad says it has nothing do to with drugs for him, but it's more of a culture thing in the "islands" as he says.

MY nails are pretty well kept, they are long enough that you can see them from the other side of my hand...and i file them into a square shape. i rarely paint them...and even then it's usually with a clear polish. my cuticuls typically look like shit though

i cut mine short. i used to change nail polish every week, but i have a kid now (no time) and my husband hates the smell, so i haven't bothered with it in years. i only really care if they're dirty or too long and on other people too. (i hate when men have long nails.) k8, i've known guys who did the long pinky thing in high school (all azn).

I love when girls have fake acrylic nails. I mean, you gotta love it. At the mall I always wonder what it'd be like to be one of these girls. What in the world would have to posses me in order to apply a heavily glued piece of plastic to my fingers with little butterflies or rainbows or rhinestones. Sometimes I do appreciate tacky.

I've never had long nails...or even normal sized nails. I have the horrible habit of biting my nails...i've had it forever. It's terrible...i love nail polish but I never wear any becaues it looks gross on my nails.

I had fake nails put on once for a wedding, and couldn't undo/do up my jeans and had to ask my other half to. Also wiping yourself after using the toilet could be a life or death situation!
