if she should buy them like you said, surly it would be better to buy a pair that fitted how she wanted? instead of not, to then do this whole uncomfy cold water business. which would actually be hell

yeah true, but they do fit really well when done this way because they shrink to the shape of your legs
but yeah personally i would just go out and buy a skinny fit in the first place |

| | | I had an old nasty pair of jeans and wanted to test my customising capabilities...apparently I can't measure for shit and couldn't get my feet throuh the ankles...and one leg was baggier than the other.
I vote buy some...or avoid the horrible trend altogether and wear a pair that actually fit and look good. |

I'm quite thin, not extremely hippy or anything, but the jean makers always expect me to have HUUGE calfs and knees, the sewing machine is essential when I get pants.
It's VERY easy. Just pin em & sew. You don't even have to pin if you feel confident(though you are obviously not), i never do, I just sew. |

| | | the sitting in a bath thing is not true now, when denim was originally used it did shrink and so this was encouraged to shrink them to the desired size (though they would not change their fit very much)
however then pre-shrunk denim appeared and it's now so standard it's not even worth mentioning denim is pre-shrunk. you can strill shrink them a bit in hot, hot water like most clothes but they could well warp
