Sell Me A Fragrance!

Okay, it's been overdone. But since we're starting anew, let's have it.

Recommend a fragrance (or fragrances) for either women or men or both, and tell us why. Don't let me down - I know you people wear cologne/perfume. (and yes, I'm freakin' obsessed with fragrances)

I'll start.

For women, Shalimar (by Guerlain). It's very exotic and sensual. Every woman I've ever known that's worn it wears it well. It just smells good.

For men, I'll recommend my two personal favorites: Xeryus Rouge (by Givenchy) and Eternity (by CK). Xeryus Rouge is very sweet and hypnotic, and goes a long way - but it's one of those smells I can't do without. Eternity is self-explanatory - just smells good. I like my "amber" colognes - which should be evident since both of the above men's colognes are amber in nature.

For women, Calvin Klein Obsession Night. It's very intense and sexy, but in a fresh way, not an overpowering way, if that makes sense.

curious - britney spears

sounds so teenagery i know. but i love it. it's just got a really fun, young feel about it. and the bottle is gorgeous.

pssst. the main forum is supposed to for threads directly related to clothes/fashion. threads about makeup/perfume/hair/skin etc are supposed to go in the subforum 'the spa'. and of course my mod powers for moving threads are gone

I like the bottle design for Obsession Night - I've always wondered what it smelled like.

Jean Paul Gaultier classique. it's kind of heavy, think and lovely, very suitable for a night out, not so much for a summers day, but think smokey candle lit nightgown occasions. Or just when you want to feel a bit glam.

For every day i suggest dior pure poison. I just got a new bottle from the bf, and it's just so very lovely. Kind of citrussy and fresh.

Oooooh fragrances.

"Nahema", Guerlain:
a flowery-oriental fragrance. think of a golden room with huge bouqets of dark red roses everywhere. that's nahema.

YSL Paris is fab, but the new limited edition spring version Roses des Vergers is even better.

Lovely by SJP is, er, lovely.

Estee Lauder Youth Dew Amber Nude (Tom Ford) is a good fragrance for evening. It's quite strong but once it settles it's very nice.

A good, everyday fragrance is Clarins Eau Dynamisante.

I'll add more to this:

"Rush 2", Gucci:
is the only fresh fragrance I really like because it doesn't smell artificial or citric. it smells like a fresh shower, there's something soapy about it.

"Noa", Cacharel:
Can't describe it. It's simply gorgeous.

For men:
"Antaeus", Chanel. drool.

YSL Cinema. It's a "fragrance that remembers the stars and starry lights of the art deco era" (some official blurb). It's very 'old hollywood' and it makes you smell, and feel, gorgeous. I love it.

Curious by Britney Spears - very light, girly, and fun.

Antique Lace by Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab.
Smells like musky vanilla, it's warm and comforting, subtle enough to wear during the day but also fairly sexy as a night time fragrance. Gawjus.
