so this is a perfect back to school bag, and i really want it. BUT i can't find any marc jacobs bags like it, anywhere.

the seller claims it's authentic, and that she got it at Saks earlier this month. But it's not on the saks website, marc jacobs website, or anywhere else on ebay. i mailed her and asked if she could provide some item history, and she did, but i'm still super suspicious it's fake.

anyone know Marc Jacobs well enough to spot a knockoff? have you seen this bag anywhere else before?

like, just call the marc jacobs store in San Francisco and describe it to them?

I have no help for you on determining whether it's a knock off or not. I just wanted to suggest looking at Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus web sites. They may have a picture.

I would call Marc Jacobs and ask if they ever had a collection with a bag like that.You could call Saks as well.

Nordstroms has online chat help. You can send them the link and they will confirm it for you.

Well, it is only 30 bucks.....so if you do get it and it turns out to be a knock off, then you didn't lose that much money.

well firstly the buttons say marc jacobs so thats a good sign.
its definately not fall 2006 though.
if anything, its from a spring collection if its canvas.
and its not marc jacobs but his sister line marc by marc. no marc jacobs bag sells for $220. ever.

on second thought, maybe she has the bag for a while and is just claiming its fall 2006? its not new though.

edit: i did the online support thing for saks, and that lady said she couldn't verify that it was sold in a saks store, to check if it's authentic she needs an item number, which i dont have.

it's 30.00$ now, but there are still 2 days left in the auction.

you know who's an expert on Marc Jacobs? the girls over at the marc jacobs livejournal community. i posted there and got 20 something responses to my claim. they all live at: www.livejournal.com/community/marcjacobs

i asked the seller if she could give me any more info other than what's listed in the ad. she responded with: "i bought it at saks. it's authentic, ok." so i messaged her again and said something like "sorry for being a total pain in the ass, but i'm willing to spend ALOT of money on this bag, and i want to confirm that it's authentic. can you provide me with any other information asside from that you bought it at saks?" she replied with: "i bought the bag at saks. it's authentic."

i've called a bunch of department stores, talked to 2 online consultants, called the Marc Jacobs store here in San Francisco, and called the Marc by Marc Jacobs store here, and all those resources said they'd never seen the bag before, and they haven't carried it in the past 2 years. the concensus over at the LJ community is that it's fake.

actucally, now that i see yours has a tag, maybe it's not a fake. perhaps it's from the men's collection, and that's why i dont recognize it?

when you can see different views of the item it has a price tag attached to the item for 248 but anyone could fake a tag right?

i dont think the wallet is real. marc jacobs hangbags and wallets made of leather are made in italy. sorry hun. also the rat is pretty much reserved for the stinky rat collection
