I took the day off work to make my boyfriend a birthday cake.


The first year we went out I made a treasure chest cake with gold coins, then i made a pizza cake, last year we were on holiday so i couldn't make one and this year i made a dino land cake.

I am so happy with it......I am definitely not the best baker in the world so the fact that I got it finished is impressive to me. My mum spent all of yesterday telling me it wouldn't really come together in front of everyone

Everything is edible except for the dinosaurs!

The cake is a mayonnaise double layer choc cake with fudge frosting between. The covering on the layer is chocolate and the water is dyed chocolate also. The butterflys are rice paper and the egg nest is made from smashed up biscuits and bran flakes held together with choc. The grass is butter cream and the volcano is ice cream cone and icing!

The ammonites and trilobites are Belgian choc (not made by me..)

That is AMAZING! You have some serious cake making skillz. I've never attempted anything beyond a Victoria Sponge so I'm in awe. The dinosaurs are good too, they look like friendly ones.

Thanks! I don't really like baking but i do like decorating. I thought making the nest was the funnest part.

I have to take it on 2 busses and a train tomorrow.......I think I will need to say a prayer before i leave.

Holy ****, that is truly amazing. And if I were you, I would get a giant picture made of it and put it up on the wall of my mother's house before doing a victory dance in front of it for at least an hour and a half. At least.

every part of it is awesome, but the butterflies! omg the butterflies are beautiful! he's gonna love it.
