I've had about 4 rest days now due to a stupid "summer" cold! that's me though, I make it through winter without getting sick, just to have this happen - 3 years in a row!!

Even though I'm not over it, I did want to repeat my benchpress and deadlift workout from last Saturday. Really want to do barbell squats, but I have to hit the gym when there's hardly anyone there. When I do squats at home I'm stuck with lots of reps at a low weight so I don't screw up my wrist again.

I worked with a trainer a couple years ago, and he would make me do this type of workout (no treadmill though). Sort of an HIIT/Strength combo thing. He was insane but good, and I probably would have kept working with him but he left for another gym.

ohp barx10, 50x10, 55x8, 60 3x5

^great work geek!

If I remember correctly, a lot of trainers recommend that you train in various "phases". I think there are three, but someone correctly me if I'm wrong: Strengh, Cardio and "Build". Build is last, once you've brought up your strengh and cardio to a level where you are ready to build muscle.

I sucked as a "student" when I worked with my trainer though. Maybe because I was new to it, or maybe because I was concentrating on getting my cardio and endurance up so I could run my first half marathon. And if I'm really honest with myself, I was frustrated at how hard building strength actually is. A lot harder for me than building cardio and endurance, so it was a cop-out on my part.

i need to do that. i was trying to build before strength was there.

30 minutes elliptical with 4-20 second speed and 40 second easy between. i get to start interval training now which is exciting. i'm getting better every time.

i taped myself (ill link you, prude, if you wanna see) and got some constructive criticism. i'm going to go down in weight until i can keep my head up and my chest out for deads and squats and also, on squats my knees go in when lifting so i need to strengthen there.

my squats are going down to 95 and my deads will go down to 135. one plate

but i taped my 185x5! the first dead was good, but the rest i didn't bring myself down into position enough and my head is going everywhere instead of straight ahead and body tight. i think ill get to two plates quickly if i can get form down. which is beyond exciting!
