They are ugly but tasty:
200g (8 oz) Self Raising Flour
100g (4 oz) Margarine
100g (4 oz) Sugar
100g (4 oz) Currants
Heavy sprinkling of nutmeg
Milk as required
(1) Mix flour with a pinch of salt and rub in the margarine until it resembles bread crumbs
(2) Stir in the sugar and currants.
(3) Mix to a stiff dough with the egg and milk.
(4) Place in rough heaps on a greased baking tray.
(5) Bake in the oven at 200°C, 400°F or Gas Mark 6, for 15-20 minutes.
