vegetarian and tiredness

I am always tired and although I do work unsociable hours and this can have a large effect on me feeling tired and drained, I think that there could be some correlation with my diet. being a veggie who is lactose intolerant I probably am not feeding myself the right amount of vitamins etc. Im getting old now too so its probably a case of aging and diet.

I was wondering if there were other veggies on here who have the same issue with tiredness? Do you think its related to your diet or just your life-style?

when you find that your diet is effecting you in a bad way, do you change it? do you then begin eating meat and fish again?

It sounds like you might be deficient in iron. Good sources of iron in a vegetarian diet are nuts, dark green vegetables (eg. broccoli, spinach), beans, seeds and soy (soya milk is an very good source of iron and since you're lactose intolerant it would be ideal for you to substitute for milk in your diet). Also make sure you're getting enough vitamin C as it increases the absorption of iron in the blood. Most fruit is rich in vitamin C.

It wouldn't hurt for you to take a multi-vitamin also.

i recently had bloodwork and the results were vitamin d low
my doctor sent me a prescription in the mail

then more bloodwork to check the levels
