dolores, they can be cooked dead, of course. but the longer you leave them dead, the more the meat deteriorates and tastes gross.

some say its a good idea to sit the lobster in salt water for 15 mins to desensitise it, and the quickest way to kill it is to cut it in half, head first.

i always thought it was more humane to freeze them first, because they weaken quickly and die when exposed to extreme cold or heat, but tbh i don't really have much experience with lobster.

and what about the other seafood like octopus?? why aren't the cooked alive?

yeah mussels definitely are, its unhealty to eat them otherwise. octopus, i have no idea. maybe the meat deteriorates at a slower rate or something, i'm sorry i don't know.
