Back to School Fitness thread

I'm on school time again. My husband is starting up this semester.

I have been out of the fitness game for a bit, because I was super stressed out working 50+ hours a week, and trying to fix up my albatross of a house to sell it. I feel free again, and have started exercising again.

today was my first day back. and it felt good to get back on the elliptical and work out.

i've lost a good deal of muscle and gained a good deal of fat. i actually gained ten pounds. it looks worse on me than ten pounds sounds because of all the fat gained.

in any case!

i want to start up this thread again and if people want to log their info that would be all the better because it definitely helps me to read what other people are doing. it's inspiring.

23 minutes 2 miles on the elliptical. on level one. im ok with being wimpy right now. its my first day back.

i also started logging my food. by 1pm i had eatin my days supply of food. weight watchers has wiggle room with flex points and with exercise points, so i still have points i can eat, but i was surprised by how much i had been taking in. and i thought i was doing well until i logged it.

so food is (as always) a big componenet of getting fit.

exercise is the biggest though.

i am going to set up a plan with a trainer (the Y provides one for free!) on monday at 11. i'm excited about this!

good for you for re-joining weight watchers! i did too as of a couple of weeks ago. i haven't been on it since last october but luckily didn't gain any weight (and only because i killed it at the gym, not because i ate healthily). i am shooting for at least 10 lbs. maybe more but i don't want to get too carried away. but i'm glad to be on it because it forces me to be aware of any mindless eating i was doing when i'm not keeping track.

If dirtyplotte is getting fit, you can be damn sure I'm gonna be.

If I had balls, they'd be getting bust right now. I'm terrified even thinking about it?!

Fire in there, lady. Good luck.

Sounds like you're doing well with the willpower.
I did a spin class this morning so I'm happy for today.
Just watching 'what's eating gilbert grape'' on tv and I'd forgotten how young looking and gorgeous johnny depp is in it.
Plus his mum in the film is morbidly obese so it's encouraging me to scoff lots!

just go by that silly old adage of taking it one day at a time. i'd give almost anything for a greasy pepperoni pizza. not a slice. a whole pizza. okay maybe not a whole one but at least 2 or 3 big gooey slices. but i know that right now i don't have one and at no point today will i go get one. because i know that i can substitute it by making my own and just putting ham or hormel bacon bits on it (or likely both). or i'll go have a 100 calorie chocolate or pringles if i really need a junk food fix..which is daily. so go ahead and give into the compulsion by making better choices than we did pre-weight watchers and hopefully that helps both the compulsive need to eat and keeps you within your points range each day.

i;m journaling everything i eat. im not OP for this week any longer, but i'm still charting everything. painful to do.

worked out today. much easier for me to work out than diet. i love it.

off points yesterday. but each day is a new day. worked out with a trainer today and go again tomorrow. she had a "talk" with me about my competitive nature and how that relates to my injury rate. shes highly competitive too so it was easier coming from her rather than someone who thinks im a fucktard for it.

worked out on a couple different cross trainers, the boke and row machine as well as did lots of stretching.

now im off to eat a paneras strawberry poppyseed salad

me too!

i'm on a new fitness kick. i haven't been to the gym since january when i tried to take ebin to the daycare and they paged me after 3 minutes on the elliptical trainer. and i've been paying my membership this whole time but hoping i can try to take him there again. he's 14 months now so i should give it a shot.

BUT i got a new bike 2 weeks ago and that is my new fitness inspiration. we have a burley trailer and i have 70 lbs of kid to haul around. i go extremely slooooow. other bikers pass me and smile. but hey...it's a workout!!

isaac's daycare is halfway up mount tabor and it is ALL uphill all the way there and then a lovely cruise on the way down. last wednesday i biked up there with just ebin in the trailer to pick isaac up, and i had to get off and walk twice.

this morning i biked up there with both kids in the trailer and i only had to get off and walk once! progress eh?

i'm also trying to ride them over to the park once in a while. and yesterday i rode to work. i'm hoping i can stick with this plan even once it starts raining. it's pretty fun!

jstar so there are months of no rain or little rain in portland? more weather info please. <3

i want a bike as well. i think it would be great fun to ride with seth. he would need to ride as well, so it will have to wait until the next couple of years. he wont stand being confined in anything. he hates it. we stopped being able to use a stroller with him when he was about one years old. hates hates being confined.

there are paddle boats and surreys available for rent at presque isle though. i think he would love the paddle boat and could possibly stand a surrey ride.

the summer months are dry except for the occasional thunderstorm. it rained last night in the middle of the night but mostly you have to water the yard every day in the summer because it is so dry. nov - march are the rainiest months. july and august are hot and dry. the other months can vary a lot.

Precip 6.24 5.07 4.51 3.10 2.49 1.60 .76 .99 1.87 3.39 6.39 6.75

seth could probably do a trailabike (attached to yours). then he could pedal but he'd be going at your pace. i think it will be a while before i am comfortable with isaac being on his own bike around traffic. i dont even like being around traffic myself!

'tis the season indeed.

i'm officially done with summer august 18th, which is when i hopefully will have the time and energy to give exercise a go again. so far i have my eye on a couple of tiny kettlebells and a krav maga course i really can't afford (but i intend to check out the free trial class anyway).

but until then, i ain't doin' shit

burned a thousand (!!) calories today working out on the bike for a bit and then weight training for an hour with stretching. still not worrying as much about how much i am eating. i want to focus on that starting in a couple weeks, but i am conscious about what i am putting in my mouth. today had

hummus with pita, tuna fish - breakfast

bowl of special k, weight watchers ice cream bar (2)

rotisserie chicken, salad with pistachios, raisins carrots field greens and vidalia dressing - dinner

dessert - organic probiotic yogurt with fresh raspberries and wheat germ

did cardio today. and ate like a pig. i give myself two more weeks of sorting this out without pressure. i think that it just might happen naturally. because when i am trying to force myself to follow the points plan, i am rebelling badly. either i need to settle in with exercise before the diet works, ori am pregnant which would be fabulous, or i need wellbutrin. i weaned myself from wellbutrin a while back.

how is it going, drrrty?

i can't wait to get started exercising again.
routine now consists of:

sitting on my ass for 10 hrs on the night shift
sleeping all day
sitting on my ass eating and generally vegetating before work
sitting on my ass all night again
etc.

summer be gone! i need some intelligent work and non-zombie routine again.

i'm on an eating bender myself. it has got to stop i need to slow my roll

i've ridden my bike a little bit. probably not enough to count as actual exercise. today i rode my bike to work and it will be about 98 when i go out to ride home. i'm sure i'll sweat a bucket.

I've gained 10lbs this year and before that I was still 5lbs or so over pre-baby #2 weight (who will be 2 in a week!) nevermind pre-baby#1 weight.

I've been working out for about 5-6 weeks now, I started doing it every other day and didn't shift a single pound so have stepped it up to every day. I am quite enjoying it and it is definitely giving me more energy for the rest of the day but I'm really impatient for visible results.

I'm trying to be careful about what I eat but not actually counting calories yet. My main problem is eating in the evening, even though I'm keeping my hands occupied with my knitting I still find it really hard to not start nibbling things.

But I'm just getting so disheartened that I still haven't lost more than 1lb and I need to lose at least 20. I hate the way I look and there's so much of it around my middle which is so unhealthy

I've also been struggling with pnd since my 2nd baby which doesn't help with getting me off my arse and then not getting the weight off just makes me feel worse about myself
