Spinning?

Has anyone ever done a spinning class?
I am thinking of joining the spinning class that is offered here to help get me back into a shape after a very sedentary year.

How challenging is it? The class description says that it is "individually paced", but right now I am not even fit enough to run 20 straight minutes - will it be doable?

And most importantly, is it fun??

oh god annie I tried it. If you have good knees it'd be an awesome workout. unfortunately for me I don't and mine locked up in the up-down-up-down bits and I had to leave the class. damned arthritis.

Oh, well it's all just free through school so I am going to give it a whirl (pun intended) this evening. There is another leader on some nights so I'll even give it two tries before giving up.

I need to find something intense enough to replace running if my shin splints don't get better.
Thanks for the input!

Verdict: spinning is ok. I mean, it's not SUPER fun, cause you're sweating on a bike, but it's a lot better than working out for an hour at the gym.

Also, I think I need shorts with a bum pad, because after about 45-50 minutes everything started getting a little numb. I don't know how the men do it.
