Diet

I just started a new diet. For those that know is feta cheese bad for diet. I ate salads for the past 2 days and put feta cheese on top of it...not a whole lot, just a few pieces for taste.
Also, what is better? To go for aerobics or to exercise on the eliptic bike as log as I can. Is there a difference if I choose the "diet program" versus the "cross country one" or the one that feels as if you are climbing a hill? Or will the manual program be enough? how about the treadmill? how long should i walk? is there a 'best' way to do it?
Any advice on how to get over my shyness of trying the other machines that will hopefully flatten my abs?

Thank you,
Luci_

anything that puts your heart rate at 65%-75% of your maximum heart rate for about 20mins (increasing gradually up to 45 as you get better) is fine and dandy. most machines have monitors so you can check this.

max heart rate is roughly 220 minus your age. i think there are other ways to calculate it if you feel the need to look into those.

doing anymore than that is getting into endurance training, which is great if your preparing for a race or something but relatively pointless if your just losing weight.

Do you have any idea after how long I will see a change in my weight/size?
Can can I get rid of my big stomach?

Thanks for your previous answer. It was very helpful.

i don't know. i'm not really on a diet, I just took up running so I've kinda picked up a lot of fitness info.

anyone can change there body though by sorting themselves out though. I saw insane results when I tried switching too one of those "eat 5 small meals a day" programmes. if you have a fileshare download this pdf book thing called "burn fat, feed muscle" or something like that, it's good and saves you trying to put together all the random contradictory info you're likely to find searching through google.

I would say weigh yourself once a week. You should see some results within 2-3 weeks. I find that's how long my body takes to finally give in and start losing! Though a lot depends on how much you have to lose. You will see scale results quite quickly (within a couple of weeks) if you have a lot to lose, but it might take longer before clothes start fitting differently. When you have less to lose, the opposite is true, because you will lose some fat, but gain muscle.

This has just been my experience.

I think RNJ gave good advice. Long, moderate exercise is also good for burning fat. The suggested frequency for weight loss is 5 times a week.

I'm not a big believer in programs, because they don't teach you how to make healthy choices.

I think a bit of feta is fine. You should have some dairy products. You might switch to low fat feta if you can find it, but if not, I wouldn't sweat it. The key is moderation.
