Truly nourishing your body

I know it's a very obvious point to make, but how wonderful is it when you truly start to nourish your body, and rather than fixate on being a certain dress size and just focus on being healthy, your body thanks you for it by becoming the perfect shape anyhow because you are feeding it properly and paying it respect.
Do some parents/people not realize if they feed their kids/themselves toxic rubbish, lard laden with chemicals and virtually no fresh fruit and veg that of course they won't be able to think they'll straight, they'll have mood swings and they'll be overweight and have digestive/skin problems. It's all part and parcel of knowing that we have to treat our bodies like temples and go back to basics, not over or under eating. Eating disorders are a terrible terrible thing and destroy the lives of the sufferer and their family. Food is the energy that allows us to live happy and successful, joyful lives and we all need to remember that it is not the enemy. As of today I'm making a concerted effort to reeducate and redefne my relationship with food and the phrase healthy body healthy mind couldn't be more apt.

Just by being aware of what works for me and allows me to function properly on a day to day basis, I guess everything in moderation, and all the boring, obvious stuff like drinking enough water and eating fresh natural things. I went through a phrase of not eating enough and feeling guilty for eating, and then my body overcompensated and was essentailly starving so I binged like a bitch. Looking back it was ridiculous and totally messed up the seraton levels in my head. I think exercising regularly but not obessively pretty much saved my life and restored the endorphins that went away, and that in itself helps you to make better choices and think about things properly coz if you put in all the hard work why would just want to throw it away by consuming nutritionless food that leaves you tired, irritable and sluggish. I'm hoping that I'll be able to stay on this path without becoming overly neurotic.

i totally agree with what you're saying. i used to never touch vegetables, ever, but now i eat them daily (all fresh except for the occasional canned corn which i think is counted as a grain anyway). i feel 1000% better. if i make a homemade pizza i'll pile it high with fresh veg instead of meat toppings and i'll use less cheese. i also eat much more whole grain foods like whole wheat bread and pita and for snacks stick with things like high fiber tortilla chips, lowfat popcorn, or 100 calorie packs so i can still have a fatty food but keep it within a reasonable portion.

and about the parent/kids thing, i agree with that too. i never had to worry about weight issues until i got my own car in senior year of high school and could drive to fast food and then especially when i moved out on my own and started eating shit. my parents always cooked healthy dinners with lots of vegetables (that i ate reluctantly) and 9 times out of 10 said no when me and my brother would ask for mcdonald's or something like that.
