there are other threads on this, with tons of information. brookelyn is a good source because she's done the diet a few times.

i tried it for a couple weeks and it made me feel great. i also lost some wieght and "cleaned" everything out. but it's too hard to keep 100 percent raw. the best idea is to just eat as much raw as u can, and when u can't, don't feel bad about it.

there are actually some really amazing raw cakes, pies, chocolates, etc.
i have never had the time or patience to make them myself, but a place in town called daily juice has them all the time.

last week i had a chocolate coconut pie that was OMGWOW. they also have almond butter cups and cherry almond chocolate candies.

eating 100% raw is hard, but it's also very rewarding. i am most successful when i don't think of it as what i can't have, but what i can have.

the biggest challenge for me with raw is eating socially or at restaurants. so i don't sweat those occasions anymore and just eat what i'm in the mood for. otherwise, i'm typically very boring and eat a lot of the same things day in and day out. i tend to have this habit whether i am eating raw or not so it's not a big deal to me.

i try to eat a lot of citrus because i feel better when i do.

i try to stick to this formula every day, although obviously i'm not perfect and it varies.

wakeup
water with lemon
exercise
"breakfast" grapefruit, oranges, or some kind of citrus (1 or 2 depending on how hungry i am)
tangelos are my favorite, they are a mix of grapefruit and tangerine... mmmm
water
"lunch" big smoothie with whatever fruits im in the mood for + vita-mineral green (or fresh greens), hemp protein or hemp seeds, maybe coconut oil, cacao, goji berries, or some other superfood.
water
"snack" pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds and strawberries or kiwi
water
"dinner" big huge salad with lots of greens, cucumbers, and avocado - sometimes sweet, sometimes savory. plus i add whatever i have or am in the mood for. usually some herbs like basil or cilantro, tomatoes, carrots, cabbage, peppers, etc. apples, dates, figs, etc. olive oil, lemon, sunflower seeds, hemp seeds, etc.
water
"snack" usually some kind of citrus

eating raw is way more extreme than being vegan. when you begin eating raw it makes you realize how much processed food we all eat.

the hard truth is that what comes straight from the earth= the best thing for you nutritionally. and you'll feel it.

i ate dim sum the other night (just wanted to try it) and had painful gas cramps for DAYS. it was sooooooo not worth it.

I've had a few pts that were on raw food diets because they had cancer and thought the raw diet would somehow help them not have cancer (false) and they ended up having anemia from B12 deficiency and brittle bones. And cancer.

I think it's cool because it makes people eat more fruits and veggies and natural stuff, but at the same time, there's no real science out there supporting it; most of the stuff I've heard about it (again, mostly from patients) is really really bogus and I almost can't bring myself to tell them that having "acidic blood" didn't give them cancer, and that cooking doesn't "kill enzymes" you need from the food.
