| | | i drink about 1.5 litres of green tea most days. love the stuff.
i think its been proven to have an effect on the way your body metabolises fat, but im skinny and dont want to lose any more weight, so i just drink it
because i like it, and it helps to up my water intake when i want a warm drink.
it is now (so ive read) recommended by doctors to people who have had heart attacks/have heart disease as it helps to break down the fat around the organs. |

| | | Just remember that green tea stops the body from absorbing iron, so check your levels and dont' drink too much. |

| | | I have a hard enough time getting iron to begin with, now my tea addiction is screwing with my bodies ability to absorb it?

| | | When I have a craving for something sweet, green tea totally satisfies it, so I'm not eating as much chocolate/sweets as I used to. Guess it can help you lose weight! |

| | | This thread inspired me to try a Starbuck's Green Tea Frappucino for the first time. It was totally sugar/calorie laden, but good.. it's a mix between green tea and melon.. pretty yum. |

| | | re: iron absorption source: 'The World's Healthiest Foods' http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?t...spice&dbid=146 Green Tea and Iron Absorption
Due to their high tannin-content, teas, including green tea, have been shown to prevent iron absorption. While this effect is helpful in persons with too much iron, consuming several cups of green tea daily may not be a good idea for persons deficient in iron or susceptible to iron deficiency.
I think I may have to cut down now! I dont eat a lot of meat, and get dizzy spells that could be down to a lack of iron.
Thanks to recalcitrant for pointing this out.
The website this was posted on goes into detail about the health benefits of green tea as well, its interesting reading. |

| | | Yeah, that and...grapefruit juice? Something weird, anyway, you're not supposed to take your supplements with them. I only know because my mum's taken iron tablets for years and my auntie, who's a doctor, basically laughed at her when she realised she was taking them with a cup of tea. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
