allergic to poppyseeds?

i've never formally been diagnosed with a food allergy except milk obviously.

but everytime i eat a god damn poppyseed muffin, i kind of feel like i'm going to die? not exactly, die b/c i know i'm not. but my heart starts racing really badly to the point of nausea.

now i know it's an opiate. so is it just the fact that it's an opiate or should i be concerned that one of my favorite muffins is inedible to me?

i guess it's a good thing i've never done heroin.

whilst i know poppyseeds are, i thought you'd have to be taking large amounts of it. have you googled about this?

it could also be something else int he muffin that is annoying your system

i really did try to google beforehand.

i guess it's really are to be allergic. but i found:

A patient with an immediate type hypersensitivity reaction against poppy seed is reported. Clinical symptoms consisted of swelling of the oral mucosa, vomiting, respiratory distress, and urticaria. Specific IgE antibodies were demonstrable by RAST

um he wanted to puke & he had respiratory distress. so i mean maybe?

it definatley sounds like it. how long have you been noticing this? has this always been the way when eating poppyseed muffins?

what it could be is a cumulative effect if you've been eating them fairly regularly for a while

i don't eat poppyseed muffins a lot at all.

but the effects last for a while afterwards. i ate one just before bedtime (prethis thread) & i'm still having that weird feeling.

but it does happen whenever i eat one, b/c i'm not observant at all usually. but i have no noticed this.
