Tempeh Revisited

I tried it!!!!!

I gave it 2 chances.

At first, we cut it in cubes, fried it with some spices and soy sauce along with vegetables for a coconut-rice-dish. It tasted
Like herekitty said, moldy. Since the inside was still raw, it tasted a bit like brie/camembert. I didn't find its taste nutty.

Then we cut it in really thin slices and fried it until crispy. Added spices and soy sauce. The moldy taste went away, but there wasn't any characteristic taste left. Like tofu, it seemed more neutral. Ate it on a sandwich, that was okay.

It's nothing I need to eat soon again.

Tempeh Salad Sandwich
(this is my fav for summer time comfort food!)

*One package of cooked Tempeh, crumbled
*1 Cup Seitan Shredded (this is optional, it just gives the mixture more texture)
*2 Stalks celery, chopped
*1-2 Carrots, skinned and chopped
*1/2 Cup Vegannaise
*1 Tablespoon Dijon Mustard
*1 teaspoon Yellow Mustard
*1 Tablespoon Sweet Relish
*1 teaspoon Tamari or soy sauce

Throw everything into a large bowl and mix well. The measurements aren't set in stone, if you feel it needs more relish or mustard, go for it. Once you get the mixture to your liking, chill in the refrigerator till cold, or ready to use. It makes a great sandwich, paired with toast and some spinach; or use it as a dip with some crackers.
