| TTC and Early pregnancy dieting? Does anyone know if it's ok for someone who is trying to have a baby to lose weight during the same time period? Not a major diet, but eating a 1800/cal a day diet of healthy foods, along with moderate exercise- such as walking a few miles?
I'm TTC and I also know from experience, I will feel better if I drop about 15 pounds. I am making sure not to lose more than 1-2 pounds a week. And I am not pregnant yet for sure. But someone told me that any weight loss at all is not good for a pregnancy and so if TTC not to lose any weight- the reason was it causes your body to produce ketones.
?? All I can say is I think it'd be ok for me to lose 15 pounds while trying to get pregnant because part of that time, I won't even be pregnant. I would never diet while pregnant but I do exercise. With my first pregnancy I had violent nausea I could not control that lasted the entire pregnancy, it was really scary because I could not keep food down. My doctors were concerned because I lost 15 pounds in the first trimester and by the end I had barely gotten back up to starting weight. I started that pregnancy needing to lose about 30 pounds. Some people say the baby will get what it needs regardless...but one doctor told me losing a few pounds wouldn't hurt and might help with TTC, another doctor forbade to try at all- told me to establish a pregnancy, have the baby THEN worry about losing the pounds.
Another thing, I conceived my first baby the first month we tried, and this time around (I'm 30) it has been a few months and no pregnancy, I am afraid to do anything that will make this worse. I would have put this in the pregnancy area BUT I'm more interested in the diet/health aspect of it, as I am not pregnant. |
