| | | stop drinking coffee / how can you still drink it? I used to love coffee! All the time! Early mornings & late, late night's only. But I quit it about 4 years ago. Only cause I did not want it to stain my teeth. I now turn to tea & hot chocolate, but thru a straw. And rarely, cause I just don't rely on a drink to wake me up anymore. Are these good subsitutues? I wish I could drink coffee everyday like everyone else, but besides the stains, I don't want my health to be effected by it too.
How do you feel about coffee?

| | | I used to have white chocolate lattes and frappucinos from starbucks almost every day. sooo unhealthy. they're so full of sugar. it's crazy.
starbucks doesn't exist here, so I don't drink coffee any more at all because plain coffee is just not fun. |

| | | I've been trying to cut down. I usually have two cups a morning. (note: these cups are bigger than average, and i fill them nearly to the top w/ coffee). a few days last week i only had like one average cup.
but i just haven't been getting sleep lately.
I want to quit coffee completely but my schedule lately just is not allowing that. |

| | | I love coffee every now and again, i normally drink herbal teas throughout the day but i guess i wouldn't recomend them as a substitute since they will tend to taste like pond piss water in comparison. Peppermint tea is lovely though. |

| | | I drink coffee pretty much everyday; usually at least two cups before noon. I can't have any caffiene past 3 or 4 in the afternoon though, because it'll disrupt my sleep so much.
I love plain ol' coffee with half & half and a Splenda. It's rare that I get something from Starbucks (it's just too expensive!) but when I do, I make sure it's some kinda crazy concoction, since it's a treat. |

| | | There is absolutely nothing unhealthy with coffee, specially with milk. If you drink black coffee, have your stomach full before, and as a substitute for sugar use sweeteners. Of course too much coffee won't be good, as anything. But a cup of coffee everyday can't harm you, in fact, it's actually good for you.
Now drinking stuff thru a straw so you won't stain your teeth seems a bit paranoid to me.

| | Interest in the possibility that the consumption of coffee or caffeine might protect against the development of Alzheimer’s disease is growing. A retrospective Portuguese study of 54 cases of Alzheimer’s disease and 54 controls recently demonstrated that caffeine intake over the preceding 20 years was inversely and significantly associated with risk of Alzheimer’s disease (1). A prospective Canadian cohort study of 4,615 elderly subjects diagnosed 194 cases of Alzheimer’s disease and showed that coffee consumption was inversely associated with disease risk (2). More prospective cohort studies of the relationship between coffee and caffeine intake and Alzheimer’s disease risk are needed.
A study of 72,284 Italians showed that there was an inverse association between intake of coffee and prevalence of asthma (1). Risk of asthma fell by 28% when three or more cups of coffee were drunk every day.
It can be concluded that coffee possesses greater in-vitro antioxidant activity than other beverages, due in part to intrinsic compounds such as chlorogenic acid, in part to compounds formed during roasting such as melanoidins and in part to as yet unidentified compounds. http://www.cosic.org/
anyway, I love coffee!

| | | I've recently started having CranioSacral therapy, and I've had to start drinking my coffee without sugar.....and I actually LIKE it. I just know no good can come of this.
EDIT: In case you were wondering, I'm not exactly sure how this applies to the subject at hand, except that I seriously doubt I will ever be able to stop drinking coffee.

| | | i used to drink waaay too much coffee, but i've pretty much replaced it with green tea now. i only drink coffee when i have an essay to do & need to concentrate, which it helps me to do.
coffee has odd effects on me when i drink it, like it changes my personality and i act a bit strangely, this is why i've reduced my intake to only necessity |

| | | I love good coffee. I won't drink coffee just to drink it. I actually enjoy the taste and the entire activity of going to a coffeeshop and drinking a fancy coffee drink. Mochas and caramel whatever whatsits are nice once in a while, but they're too sweet. I like to taste my coffee. If it's good coffee the taste is divine. Truly. I'm a recreational coffee drinker and I don't see it changing ever. |

| | | I am not a coffee drinker. I dont' like the idea of being addicted to caffiene (or being addicted to anything) so I have never been one of those people who needs coffee in the morning. I never drink coffee in its regular form... I think it's kinda gross.
I do love the flavor of coffee though.... coffee ice cream, yogurt, and those dunkin donuts coffee coolattas in the summer... yum. |

| | i was a coffeeholic for 10 years. had 5-10 big cups per day.
then 1 1/2 year ago, i got problems with my bowels and cut it completely out. haven't had any coffee eversince, it's really not that hard. i don't crave it at all.
i can't notice any benefits that might have come along with the abstinence though... . |
