christmas pudding from scratch?! christmas recipes!

so i told my aunt i'd bring christmas pudding to dinner this year. but they're really expensive, so i decided to try make one from scratch. they're steaming for like the next four hours.

i'll post the recipe i used, if it comes out okay lol.


does anybody else make christmas pudding from scratch? recipes etc?


i'd like to try my hand at mince pies and christmas cookies too!

share your recipes?!

Did you soak for fruit for a month? Put rum in it next time, too. I assure you it's better than just putting in brandy!

I don't really like "traditional" xmas food, it's very heavy and hard to digest. We have BBQ and fruit and icecream on Xmas usually.

i use delia smith's xmas pud recipe and i make it in november. i let it soak overnight and then steam for 8 hours. i use rum and guinness for the alcohol.
my grandma has an old family recipe but i (very unloyally) think delia's is better.
i started making my own because i was living abroad and my american mother-in-law doesn't make them and i couldn't stand the idea of a christmas without christmas pudding!
it's great when it's steaming - smells so christmassy
