| | | Vegetarian question... As a veggie and a big cook, I'm always trying to find alternative ingredient.
So here's a question:
Vegetarian prawn crackers, prawn substitute, veggie Worcester Sauce (anchovies in normal one) where can I get them? I've tried chinese stores!
There are alternatives to all of these as there are
numerous people who had them or mention them including chefs and including me! But who stocks them!? |

I think online is the best way, but have done a massive search and come up with nothing, maybe someone on here will know more sites? |

| | | according to wikipedia, about the worcester sauce:
Vegetarian substitutions
Vegetarian and gluten free alternatives are available; the vegetarian variety omits the anchovies (notably Henderson's Relish). 'Life' Worcester sauce, produced by MH Foods (Morehands Ltd), is both vegetarian (no meat, no fish) and suitable for coeliacs (no gluten ingredients). Angostura also offers a fish-free sauce, but doesn't advertise itself as "vegetarian."
There are also fish-free sauces produced for the Kosher market - not because anchovies aren't kosher, but because of an Orthodox prohibition on eating meat and fish together. These versions can then be used in recipes featuring meat.
I've seen the gluten free Life one in holland and barrett |

| | | Annie's makes really good frozen cheese enchiladas. I think I baked 'em (not micro).
I found a few things after a "vegetarian worcester" search. |

| | | I'll have to venture out to handb, I mostly shop online at Tesco's.
I think the search problem was more to do with prawn crackers...think maybe I just don't put the right words in teh search box!? |

| | | I don't know what prawn crackers are, but there is a chinese company that makes vegetarian prawn, lobster, duck, etc. I can find their things at a local store but I don't know where you'd find them if you're not in the US. (Where are you?)
And phoenix rose already answered the question about wor. sauce. I'm pretty sure the kind I have is Annie's too, but if you want, I'll go look. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
