i have NEVER been to one before, i have looked at one in town and would pay per session, but i have NO idea what to do
i dont even own a pair of trousers or trainers
would they help me?
hhaha or do you have to be a member for them to help you?
i seriously wouldnt even know HOW to run? let alone work the machine? |

| | for health and safety reasons they are required to give you and induction if you ask for one whether you are a full member or just a guest. This can be as basic as just showing you how to use the machine, some gyms will offer to do you a training programme free of charge, but at the gym I work at this would only be offered to members as we get so many guests to do it for them would be an impossible task- but they HAVE to show you how to use the machines so don't worry about that.
You should go about 3 times a week to see results, so wouldn't it be cheaper to become a member? I guess it depends on guest fee prices at that gym, but I know at ours just paying to be a guest twice is more than a full months unlimited membership.
you have to get yourself some trainers and some kind of jogging pants, again for H&S reasons you can't just wear normal flat shoes or jeans or whatever.
hope this helps
do you have a Cannons gym in your town? it's the best |

| | | yeah 3 times a week!
actually 30 min a day is reccommended, but you should do a proper work out 3 times a week at least
£30 a month is quite cheap for a gym though...
maybe just go once a week and then get a exercise dvd to do at home too?
x

(i am super chubby, its easy to hide in pics!) | hehe dont worry about being chubby.
Between gym visits just ride a bike places or go for walks. my mum has lost 45kg just by getting up each morning and going for a brisk half hour walk, and then walking some other times.
you have to go morethan once a week though.
I'm big too, and i know all i have to do is get the motivation and do it. |

| | | I joined a gym last year for the first time and really enjoyed going, I stopped when I fell pregnant due to threatened miscarriage but intend to re-join soon after I've had the baby. |

| | | i joined the gym for a month while i was unemployed and went loads, mostly out of boredom but it does make you feel really good. now that i'm working i dont really have the time or energy to go and i cant really afford it either. i walk to and from work which is like 40 minutes each way so i figure that's enough. |

well maybe i can but hmmm | why don't you just go for a run round the park a few times a week, or go swimming or something free/cheaper?
or you could look at the university gyms, which are often cheaper than ones like fitness first/golds/etc |

| | most gyms won't allow street shoes and in addition to that, you could injure yourself exercising in shoes that aren't designed for it. so you'll need some good shoes specific to the activity you want to do, running for example.
don't be afraid to ask the employees for help. you'll feel silly and self-conscious, but would you rather use the equipment incorrectly and waste time while you risk hurting yourself? a lot of gyms offer fitness assessments too, in which a trainer or technician could give you advice on diet and what exercises you should be doing.
just go to the reception area and explain that you're a new member and that you'd like some direction and help with the equipment. they should offer some type of service for new members, be it body assessment, gym orientation, or consultation with a trainer. fitness magazines can also be a big help when you're a bit more experienced. magazines like "shape" and "fitness" have different workout routines in every issue. good luck. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
