what can i make with a big bag of apples?

my grandmother gave me a bunch of apples from their trees. i have nowhere cold to store them, so i need to use them up pretty quickly.

don't eat much cakey stuff, so cake or pie is out (i know i could freeze it, but i try not to have stuff like that in the house. i just binge on it.)

not a big fan of apple jam/sauce. too bland for my taste.

errrr. help me. i'm eating apples like crazy, but there are just too many. and they won't last for much longer in room temperature.

My friend went apple picking last week and inundated me with "appley" treats. She brought me a caramel apple crisp that was incredibly good with vanilla ice cream. You can probably find a good recipe on-line (epicurious.com is good). I'm normally not a crisp eater, but it was delicious and pretty healthy (made with organic brown sugar and oatmeal). Good luck!!

you could coat them with a little oil and then grill them. It would be a good as a side dish for dinner. Or throw some in a salad. And apple crisps are super easy to make.

put them in a pan and cook until a little soft then add to the pan some orange juice, honey, sultana's, then sprinkle with cinnamon, yum. you can also do that and put it in puff pastry with some ground almonds and bake it in a pie. delish.

have you got a juicer?
or you could make a big batch of apple and potato mash and then some chicken and cider casserole to go with it.
Have an apple party and invite your friends over.

i am having the same problem right now
i bought them intending to make an apple tart recipe i got off the tv
now i can't find it and both of the recipes i found from googling that are similar have some sort of screw up in the recipe
the one the lady wrote baking powder in the ingredients but then says baking soda in the directions
and i have no way of knowing which it is
the other i realised after i printed it that it calls for splenda
i hate splenda and i don't know how to convert it to sugar

update:
i made a tart and its gooood!
