| | | Low carbing it Is anyone else here following a low carb diet? I know the Atkins etc get labelled as fads...but low carb really works. I have lost 7 pounds in a week (I jog too).
I am not fond of extreme diets but I have to say low carb is really working for me...and let me clarify I am sort of doing my own modification of low carb. I am NOT eating mountains of bacon eggs and cheese.
I cut out all breads, pasta, potatoes andsoft drinks and sugar (candy and fruits high on the glycemic index). It has really stabilized my blood sugar and is helping my migraines etc. I eat salads with ranch dressing (most ranch only has a gram or two of carb) with grilled chicken and cheese on top.....low carb wraps (these have 10 grams of starch/sugar carbs and like 10 grams of fiber which doesn't count in your carb count)...so I eat lean meats such as chicken and fish, eggs in moderations, and only once in a while bacon or sausage. Cheese in moderation...and drink only water or an occasional diet drink (I try to stick to ones that have Splenda and not Nutrasweet- this helps me immensely if I feel like giving up due to a sugar craving. Get this- I used to despise diet soda but I have actually lost my taste for sugar, so the occasional diet Coke or something in a restaurant tastes good to me.
I was starting to worry about weight I put on while on birth control pills a long time ago that stayed on, that maybe I had a thyroid problem etc, but the weight is melting off without hunger....anyone else do low carb?
BTW, again, I don't condone fad diets/trends, and I plan to stick to healthy eating. I am low carbing to lose the weight, I plan to stick with it in general for good (avoid cakes and candy and white breads and potatoes), and when I finish losing weight I plan to still exercise and just watch my calorie intake. I know people who lost tons on a strict low carb diet but gained it all back and then some when they went back to their old habits of eating.
I have to say though, I feel great, and it is working. Atkins diet induction says to keep your carbs under 20, but I am just staying under 30 and making sure to eat lean meats instead of the greasy red meat crap. Plus exercise.
To be honest, I think I would get just as good results though maybe not as FAST to just cut out bread, potatoes, and sweet drinks--truthfully, Weight Watchers is probably the diet most likely to work long term. It is basiclly just a moderated calorie diet. But with me I was eating sooo many carbs that the low carb diets help me out a lot.
Anyone interested in low carbing or at least reducing carbs? If so what do you avoid and what do you eat?
I avoid--bread, pasta, potatoes, bananas, sodas, desserts (well, cakes and pastries and donuts and things like that)...
I love to eat salads, grilled chicken, broiled fish, raw almonds and macadamia nuts, tuna and chicken salad, white cheeses, and green veggies (cabbage, greens, green beans, broccoli)... |

| | | Carbs, sugar and too much fatty foods is what makes people fat. So cutting out the carbs after 6pm is a good idea if you want to loose weight. |

| | | GRRRRRRRRRRRRR tgere is nothing the fuck wrong with bread - wholemeal/wholegrain/brown bread or rice. just have jasmine or basmati rice imported from pakistan over the crap white calrose shit. or have brown rice. nothing wrong with pasta either. you're supposed to have only three serves or so of proteom a week unless of course you're an athlete or a body builder. carbs are meant to make up more of our diet, just the smart ones.
cutting out bananas is silly, it is an excellent source of potassium (good for elecotroyles) and also lots of vitamins and minerals and tryphtophan which is excellent for keeping your brain happy and calm.
you only lose weight because you're cutting out a food group and its water weight at that, not to mentiont your body needs the glycogen for brain functioning.
watch your portions, sty away from those crap diet meal drinks and pills. exercise and take it SLOWLY and your body will respond.
not to mention mentally, if you have a healthier attitude towards yourbody, enjoy the amazing thigs you see it do - like get fitter and be able to run around the block and not feel out of breath, or be able to stretch your leg and not feel tight hamstrings, then you will feel better and the weight will drop off in a healthy fashion so you don't go up and down like a yoyo.
i don't weight myself, the only reason i weight myself several months ago was cause a certain germs told me to. i've yet to weight myself since but i've dropped a size already and its a fairly semi loose fit of the new size within about 3.5 months of just exercising and keeping a loose eye on my portions. i still eat bread and pasta.
