Now all that excitement is out of the way, I want to talk about something I noticed a while ago, namely the fact that a few tech-related companies have logos incorporating those same colours.

There's Microsoft as we've seen:






And then Google:






And eBay:




And AVG:




Obviously there are only so many colours to choose from. But possible colour combinations are pretty much endless, surely? So why are so many choosing those four?

In advertising those 4 colors are the most comforting

I suppose they do sort of remind me of like childhood and the simple bold coloured things you play and learn with as a kid. although idk if childhood memories is what you mean by comforting.

I noticed Facebook and Paypal have similar colour schemes to each other too, that dark blue / light blue / white thing going on.

I bet these companies spend $$$$$$ on marketing agencies and focus groups and stuff to come up with all this.

I remember when my employers decided to refresh their branding and there was a powerpoint presentation from the marketing folks on what it all meant and it took a lot for me not to snort with laughter at parts of it. But the firm does ok so I guess something's maybe working.
