video games thread!

What are you playing? What are you looking forward to? etc.

I bought a PSP last week (I know, I'm late) but I am enjoying the hell out of it, especially the PSN download stuff, replaying and catching up on PS1 classics. Currently about 19 hours into Final Fantasy IX - I can't understand why I was so turned off when it was released, but I'm loving it so far.

So basically right now all I want to do is play FFIX and Rhythm Heaven on the DS. Because Rhythm Heaven has to be one of the best things ever made.

Holy ****, I am watching that video as I type this, and this game seems ****ing amazing. How have I never even heard of it?! I mean, I don't use the ol' DS very often at all, I pretty much just played like 3/4th of that one Zelda game on it, but still. It seems like I would be at least a little more ahead of the curve than this. I should deffo get this for my fiancee, I think she'd love it.

And you know, I let all of the hateful hype get to me on FFVIII and FFIX, and I sorta wish I hadn't. I haven't played either game, and it's sorta sad, because JRPGs used to be my absolute favorite.

However, I am a recent convert to Portal, having just discovered it right around Christmastime. Holy ****ing ****. I have been thinking about it for the last three months and I am ready to proclaim it the greatest video game of all time. The fact that it also very subtly has a female protagonist and that the ending it 100% hands down the greatest in video game history really pushes it over the top, but the gameplay itself would justify it even without those relatively minor things.

seth loved his xbox360 but we have been having troubles with it. a repair place promised to replace it and stand behind their work but we have taken home 3 refurbished xbox's now and the third one is screwing up too. we paid 80 bucks and are just getting disappointment after disappointment.

i would rather have a wii, but we cant afford anything until the whole job thing is worked out. i would play with a wii i think. do you have one?

I love FFVIII and FFX a lot. Admittedly I did hate all of the cut scene action towards the beginning of FFX, but once it got going, man, that game was good. XII ****ing sucked though. Hard. And I haven't played XIII because I don't have a PS3 yet.

Rhythm Heaven is seriously ADDICTIVE. I watched it on youtube a lot before I bought it and then it's all I wanted to do. The original was on GBA and never came overseas but I did play most of it despite my limited Japanese - it's pretty self explanatory. Also it's pretty hilarious from time to time.

I will have to google Portal.

I had a Wii for a while but they weren't putting out enough games to hold my interest. I do want one again, though.

geek I think you need a DS. It's got some great hardcore games but a wealth of casual stuff, too - I love me some Rhythm Heaven and Professor Layton.
