Ubuntu / RhythmBox Music Player

I'm new to linux (I'm using Ubuntu) and I've been copying my CDs to RythmBox Music Player, and they're saving on my computer as .oga and I'm pretty sure I need them to be Mp3's since I'm going to be putting them on my Ipod eventually.
When I copy the cd's to my computer, I open RythmBox, wait for the CD to load and push extract. Am I doing this wrong or right?
And how do I make them into Mp3's?

Any help would be appriciated! And go easy on me, I'm new to this!

Rhythmbox is so rubbish. I'm not sure about extraction, but it's really bad for cataloguing/tagging. Amarok is 100 times better.

What kind of iPod you got? I got the shuffle, and Linux is a little behind in converting to shuffles's format. But, there is software like Banshee Music Player that has iPod plug-ins that recognise your iPod and can copy them over as mp3s. I'm not familiar with Ubuntcrap tho and only use Fedora Core which has mp3 disabled as default.

I have the classic Ipod. I figured out how to do it. Just went to add/remove programs and downloaded Sound Converter. It was a pain in the ass converting all the music I had already put on my computer, but now when I'm extracting it saves as Mp3 so I guess it all worked out!
