Dickheads at Apple Support

They're actually the most useless support team ever. Sometimes I wonder if they even know what products they're trying to help with.

Basically, my iPod Nano emits this high-pitched buzzing noise all the time, occasionally won't turn off (when this happens, the sleep button also stops working) and makes a whirring/clicking noise when I change the song. I've been trying to register for support for the past month but it always says 'Unable to process your request at this moment'.

The first three or four times I phoned in I got hung up on because it wasn't within 90 days of the original purchase. This time the person told me my hard drive was fucked up - well, 8 gig iPod Nano (second generation) don't have hard drives, so clearly that couldn't be making the noise.

There's no Apple store in Vancouver and I doubt anybody that I've spoken to so far or will talk to in the future is competent enough to hook me up with a box so I can send it in for warranty.

Another interesting thing? My warranty expires next week. These motherfuckers better get their shit together by December 5th.

Has anybody dealt with this before? How'd you get around it? I bought it through the Apple store, too, so I can hardly bring it into Futureshop or whatever. HELP, PLEASE!

apples quality of customer service has declined greatly over the past years but we all have different experiences. they still trump their competitors customer service reps in my opinion.

aside from all that you sound pretty incompetent. i mean, how hard can it be?

There's no point in sending it in unless they agree to process it first, and they can't do that if their site is down or if they won't take my calls. There's no apple store in Vancouver and I've brought it to the Macstation or whatever, who refused to deal with it.

I've found that Apple has one of the worst customer support. In my experience, they figure that their machine is so 'intuitive' that if you've got any problems, it's the users fault. At least Microsoft recognises that it's got problems and does its best, Shaw tries to fix it and will recompensate you if it can't get fixed. Telus is probably the most terrible, but none of them speak down to you like Apple does.

It's a lottery, sometimes they can be quite helpful.

I've had my worst ever customer service experience with iPod. My iPod had basically died and I was put on hold for half an hour with that Junkie XL version of Elvis' 'A Little Less Conversation' on loop. That is not what you want to hear when you're stressing, believe me.

I'd just be persistent, is there a charge for the helpline?
