new computer??

I can get a new computer, what should I get?? It's been awhile, I've used PC's, I'll probably stick to a PC. I'm partial to Acer or Dell. I used MS Office, outlook and photoshop mostly, I don't really want a laptop, I kind of want a tower - but are they obsolete now or what?

Thx

No, I wouldn't say towers are obsolete. They have their purpose as the home desktop PC, whereas laptops are (intended to be) the on-the-move lightweight PC. Obviously, the laptop market has gotten a little silly these days, with big beastly machines that you wouldn't dream of trying to carry about with you away from home, and for some inexplicable reason those are being made and I suppose people must be using them at home? But having a laptop that's just going to sit on your desk at home is a bit daft, unless you're pushed for space and need something that wont take much room. But you'll usually pay more for a laptop than you will for a desktop with equivalent spec.

If you can see yourself needing to do work outside home, then a laptop is a good idea. Otherwise, your money would probably be better spent getting a higher spec desktop machine, tbh.
